Wednesday, February 27th & Thursday, February 28th
Texas State Capitol
Come join us as we visit with legislators to educate them about family life education and family professionals serving in Texas. In order to make our visit to the Texas Capitol successful, TxCFR will sponsor a public policy boot camp on Wednesday, February 27th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 28th, we will post a breakfast briefing to meet legislators and staff members and also to present our 2019 Family Champion Award. Afterward, we will visit legislators' offices from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Learn more by reading about our 2017 Capitol Connection event.
There is a $40 registration fee for this preconference event. It includes the training boot camp and materials, refreshments during the boot camp, and breakfast on Thursday morning at the Texas Capitol. Associate Professor of Public Affairs
Cynthia Osborne, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs and founder and director of the Child and Family Research Partnership, a center that aims to strengthen families and public policy through rigorous research. She is also the director of the Center for Health and Social Policy, a network of scholars whose research focuses on reducing social disparities. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of social policy, poverty and inequality, family and child wellbeing, and family demography.

Karen Bogenschneider, Ph.D. has spent a quarter of a century studying, teaching, and doing family policy. She will provide real-life examples of how professionals have built better public policy and what it has meant for families and society. Best practices will be discussed for bridging the wide divide between research and policy and for effectively communicating research to policymakers.

Professionals serving families are invited to present research-focused papers, practice-focused papers, workshops, roundtable discussions, and posters. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with colleagues working in Texas and to engage in continuing education and professional development!

STUDENT POSTER COMPETITION
TxCFR is committed to providing professional development opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Student-driven research projects, research proposals, literature reviews, and position/white papers may be submitted and presented during the competition if they meet eligibility guidelines.
