Connecting for Student Success

On Thursday, October 26th, TxCFR Member Marlene Lobberecht visited Member Erica Jordan's HDFS 4322 Careers in Human Services undergraduate class that she teaches at the University of Houston. Marlene is a nationally-certified trainer, family consumer sciences educator, community/child advocate, veteran business owner, author, and coach. She works tirelessly to improve the lives of young children in the state of Texas as an early childhood advocate. Many Texas university public policy classes use her eBook, the Texas Advocacy Playbook, and she has authored other works including a chapter in the National Council on Family Relation's Family Life Education: The Practice of Family Science. Forty University of Houston students enjoyed hearing her many tips on professional relationship building, collaboration, entrepreneurship, non-profit work, and advocacy. She was a delight and so kind to take the time out of her busy schedule during such a busy time in post-Harvey Houston.
